Cinnamon Crumb Cakes

"The Kitchen" Inspiration

Thanks to The Kitchen on Food Network & the 49th Pillsbury Bake Off, we were able to take their ideas & twist it a bit to create our own little masterpiece.

& just so everyone is aware, these might be the best little bites of heaven we’ve ever tasted. Come on, it’s cinnamon rolls. Jam. Sugared cream cheese. Buttery sugar crumble. Ugh. Stop it.

Ingredients

1 package Cinnamon Rolls

2 oz Cream Cheese

2 tbsp Powdered Sugar

2 tbsp Butter

5 tbsp Flour

1/4 cup Sugar

1 Egg

1 tsp Water

ANY Jam – we used Strawberry Jam (about 3 tbsp)

Steps

1. Preheat oven to 375*, separate cinnamon rolls , & press them out (about 3″ round – see pictured above).

2. In one bowl, mix cream cheese & powdered sugar. In another bowl, mix melted butter, 4 tbsp of the flour, & sugar to make the crumble.

3. Dip cinnamon side of pressed out roll into the remaining flour then add a tsp of jam & a tsp of cream cheese mixture in the middle to the cinnamon side (above).

4. Bring the opposite sides of the pressed out roll together, pinch tight; then repeat on the other sides to form a ball – very similar to that of a dumpling (see right).

You Can Do It!

5. Place the pinched side down in a greased muffin pan. Beat the egg & water in a bowl, then brush the mixture over the top of the balls. Top with the crumble mixture by pushing the crumble down on top of the balls (see left). Bake for 16-18 minutes.

6. Let crumb cakes cool for about 5 minutes, place the icing from the cinnamon rolls into a zip lock bag, cut a small tip off, then go icing crazy over the top of these lil ones.

Holy crap. After writing this, we definitely need to make these again. Hope you all enjoy these as much as we do! #desserts4lyfe

These look really good, but hey, with cinnamon to begin with, I guess they would. Unfortunately, probably not too healthy and that is where I need to start looking.
