Try Whole 30, they said;
It'll be fun, they said...
Alright, so after a long week of going back & forth, making sure we wouldn’t starve, making sure we wouldn’t kill each other, & realizing we would not be eating any pizza, tacos, or donuts or drinking any wine, beer, or fruity cocktails, we decided to join our friend & conquer this Whole 30 challenge. However, we are only ten days in (going strong), so we will definitely keep you posted towards the end.
August
Week One
So, the point? Well, why not take on a healthier lifestyle? In fact, we have found that many recipes we have made on this diet are easy & delicious. Who knew cauliflower rice, ground turkey, & almond butter could be so good? In fact, we eat more veggies & fruit now than ever. We’ve learned which seasonings & marinades to use vs which ones are too high in sugar. & honestly, it hasn’t been that difficult. There are many recipes that we are already craving again.
Cred
We always try to give credit where it is due. Thankfully, Skinny Taste has already created MANY Whole 30 recipes for us to try. & since we have started, so many others have provided us with meal ideas.
We aren’t trying to sound over confident, especially since we are only 1/4 of the way in. But feel free to follow along our journey (hopefully making it out alive) as we post our progress.

Skillet Taco

1 lb Ground Turkey
1 1/4 Salt
1 tsp Garlic Powder, Cumin, Chili Powder, & Paprika
1/2 Bell Pepper & Onion, diced
3/4 cup Water
1/2 can Tomato Sauce
4 cups Cauliflower Rice
Steps:
1. Brown the ground turkey over medium heat while breaking into small pieces.
2. Add in salt, spices, pepper, & onion (cook down the pepper & onion). Also add in water & tomato sauce. Simmer on low for 15 minutes covered.
3. Remove cover & add in cauliflower rice (we used two bags) & cook for about 8-10 minutes.
Extras:
Feel free to add tomatoes, avocados, cilantro, salsa, etc. to your skillet! Once of these days, she might just like tomatoes & avocados & be able to join the rest of the world in its deliciousness. Until then, nope.
Good luck! I’m going to follow you on IG to see how you do before I decide to take the plunge…I definitely need a reset myself!!,
So far, we really have enjoyed it. The hardest part is going out to eat. If you normally do not eat out a lot, then this will be easier for you (we usually go out 2-3 times a week). But the recipes we have been making are very delicious!
I found so many great recipes when we did Whole30! I also lost 5” on my waist and got pregnant lol!
5″ is amazing!! And pregnant!! Maybe that will happen to us… (don’t tell him she said that).
These recipes look amazing! I did a round of Whole30 a few years ago and learned so much about my body. Success is all about the food prep. The Whole30 stuff needs to be more convenient than going out (convenience foods are my downfall). Lol We used to go out a lot too. Good luck!
We have spent all day today prepping for this upcoming week. It definitely takes a lot to prepare, but then it is pretty simple throughout the rest of the week to just heat up the breakfast/lunch/dinner items.
Good luck with Whole30!! I’ve never been able to get past the first week – so good for you! That skillet taco looks fantastic!
Thank you so much! It hasn’t been too bad yet… the skillet taco is our favorite, & we will definitely be making it again even when we are off the Whole30.
I can’t even make myself do the Whole 30… I own the book, but can’t take the plunge. And your meme cracked me up!!! Though, I will say, the food you made looked very good!
She is a very, very picky eater & has been trying to branch out (he eats everything), so reeeaaaaally worried when we started this. But so far the food as been REALLY good!
Yes! I’m in week 3 of my 6th Whole 30. I’m always a fan of new recipes and supporting other Whole 30’ers 🙂 Way to go!
6th Whole30?? That’s so impressive!! Soooo we should probably start following you for more recipe ideas… Thank you for the encouragement & inspiration!
Great meals and good luck!! I love Whole30!
Thank you so much!!
Good luck with the Whole30! I know the Whole30 completely changed my outlook on food. That skillet taco recipe looks delicious.
Thank you so much! We have learned a lot about what ingredients to look for & what items to avoid. The Skillet Taco does NOT disappoint!
I’m seriously considering trying this! I’m going to be closely following your Instagram feed for inspiration! Cheering you on!
Thank you so much! We think at the end, we are going to put together our favorite meals that were simple to make (many of them you can make in advance – – which is how we have spent our Sundays).
